"I like to communicate that you can always do things differently, that you can create your own work, nothing wrong with being an anarchist from time to time, we don’t always have to follow the crowd. To be stubborn is important and to not give up as the easy way out is not always the right way out. Don’t run past the things you feel is important. Don’t stress about things that don’t matter, and try to do small every day things that you feel good about!" Ninna Berger
Ninna Berger's work transcends the boundaries of fashion, textiles, art and craft. These garments are from her work 'Reconstructional Clothing' which is an ongoing genesis of work from her MA at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm investigating how it is possible to reuse and repurpose discarded design and material, from the grave of fashion and upcycle it back into the fashion system.
"There is always the question on how much recycling really saves energy and resources and if it is a green wash or a true sustainable evolution that we strive for. Working with recycling fabric from discarded clothing is a very time consuming activity and it is very tricky to do in a larger scale. I think recycling both on a domestic level and in the industry is an important and interesting way of working with textile. Ninna Berger
Thank you Deb

Hazel Terry Calico Jewelry II
Today I had a photo shoot for the calico jewelry that I have been making over the last two months and also the work that the students have produced. All of this work has been made from scraps of calico that I have collected over the last few years. It has been great to experiment and see what you can make from bags of rags. The students work will be in my next post.

Madame Peripetie (Sylwana Zybura), 1979 lives and works in Germany though she is originally from Poland.Sylwana's images are surreal and fantastical, her work is a mixture of fashion photography and sculpture, using various fabrics and objects to achieve her end results. Sylwana is influenced by surrealism, dadaism, the new wave era of the 80's, the British post punk scene and the avant garde theater of Robert Wilson.

The blue of this bodice is so vivid and I love the textures.

Robert Wun, is a London based designer originally from Hong Kong who graduated from London College of Fashion in 2012. His SS2014 collection 'E•den' has a styling that is very much of a futuristic samurai.
Robert Wun was inspired by religion and the way it interprets the idea of mankind and souls for his new spring summer collection. "Eden" is comprised of four chapters; Ossos inspired by Capela dos Ossos, The Dark, The Lights and Frost. The designer was inspired by a book written by a Japanese scientist, 'The Miracle of Water' by Masaru Emoto and the idea that water can change responding to human emotions.
